Music has always been a part of my life but it wasn’t until my late twenties that I realised it was singing that gave me the greatest joy. After a spiritual awakening and some years experimenting with different kinds of voice work and sound healing I did my first workshop with Chloe Goodchild and The Naked Voice in 2005. This transformative experience set me on the path to becoming a devotional singer, which crystallised in 2006 with the release of my first CD Planting Peace and a life-changing trip to India. Since then I have worked extensively with Chloe and been witness to the incredible power of voice and chanting.
I began my chanting groups in 2006 and currently run monthly sessions in Bristol and Bath. I sing all over the UK upon invitation., including Glastonbury, Cardiff, Swansea, Liverpool, Macclesfield, Sheffield, and Manchester. In the last few years I have sung at the Winter Bhakti Gathering (Gloucestershire), the Easter Bhakti Gathering (Sussex), the Bhakti Music Festival (Somerset), Colourfest (Dorset), Santosa Living Yoga & Bhakti Camp (Somerset), Bhakti Imbolc Gathering (Sussex), Be Love (London) and the Beltane Bhakti Gathering (Dorset).. See Events and Latest News for all my chanting dates.
This practice of chanting is a great source of joy and nourishment. I love the depth of silence that is achieved by chanting and this is an essential element of my sessions. I use meditative and ecstatic chants with Sanskrit mantras and English words, accompanied by simple melodies accessible to the Western ear. The repetition of these chants is a powerful and transformative practice, taking us deeply into our hearts. Chanting provides an opportunity to sing out without fear or judgement, dissolving feelings of separation and awakening compassion.
I offer one-to-one and group sessions for those interested in developing their voice, chanting or harmonium skills.
Do contact me if you would like to find out more about any of the above. I hope to sing with you soon!
"Tim sings his devotional chants straight from the heart. His voice has a rare quality of authenticity. With him it's all about the soul, but his music is great too, lyrical, uplifting and inspiring."
